When we talk about mindfulness and being in the moment and sitting with discomfort, we mostly don't mean literal diarrhea. And yet, lessons sometimes come at the most basic level.

On Cancel Culture

So what do we do when the people shaping our culture are doing harm? Do we "cancel" them? What does that even mean? Can you cancel a person? I assume the term comes from calls to cancel book deals, performances, and contracts - as people have more and more come to be brands, their presence in an activity becomes an endorsement of their brand.

Mary and Martha Revisited

As a reminder that we can all take a minute to sit and visit with guests and to practice our own spirituality, it's a decent message. As a reinforcement of patriarchal norms, it's absolutely perfect.

Mistakes Were Made

Meanwhile, my mentor complimented me on my emotional maturity. She was pleased, she told me, that she didn't have to manage me and my emotions in addition to helping my solve the problem.

On Resilience

Every struggle has a a part where you fall down, a part where you fall apart, a part where you wonder if you can go on. Being resilient isn't a shortcut that allows you to skip the messy, emotional, difficult struggle at the heart of adversity.
